Documentation of Prelude to the Inevitable, a multimedia collaboration (May 1st, 2008)
The pace of technological innovation is among the defining characteristics of contemporary society. Often new developments in technology lead to the replacement of older, more traditional ways of life. Andrea Zampitella and Eventworks along with dancers from the Colleges of the Fenway, musicians from Berklee College of Music and the New England Conservatory, projection artist, Peter Berdovsky and electronic music specialist Ben Cantil, plan to utilize multi-media and live performance to explore and integrate the struggles and successes involved with the convergence of new and old mediums. With traditional dancers, classical musicians, stage lighting, costuming, motion sensors, T.V. monitors, projection screens and electronic music. The piece entitled “Convergence” will reflect the pains and joys associated with the evolution of technology.  We also intend to carefully analyze the importance of our history as artists and the evolution of our tools and resources. While, our world is constantly changing and new innovations are being produced, we must not forget our roots and the traditions from the past that allow for this change. This combination will unite the two separate entities of past and present.
